Network Video Engineer (Enterprise Video & Collaboration)

Role Summary

The Video Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, support, and optimization of enterprise video collaboration services across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments.

This role focuses on video conferencing infrastructure, real-time media performance, and network optimization, ensuring high-quality video experiences across meeting platforms, endpoints, and integrated network services.

The engineer will collaborate closely with network, security, and collaboration teams to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient video solutions.

General Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day operations of video conferencing platforms and infrastructure
  • Deploy and maintain enterprise video solutions (on-prem, cloud, hybrid)
  • Troubleshoot video quality issues (latency, jitter, packet loss, resolution degradation)
  • Monitor video performance and user experience (QoE/QoS)
  • Participate in video platform migrations and upgrades
  • Maintain network diagrams, video architecture documentation, and runbooks
  • Collaborate with network teams on bandwidth, routing, and QoS policies
  • Provide support for video endpoints, meeting rooms, and telepresence systems
  • Perform root cause analysis for video-related incidents
  • Follow ITIL processes (incident, problem, change management)

Core Technical Responsibilities

Video & Media Infrastructure

  • Cisco Webex Video / Webex Meetings / Webex Devices
  • Microsoft Teams Rooms & Video Interop Services
  • Telepresence Management Suite (TMS)
  • Cisco Meeting Server (CMS)
  • Zoom Rooms (preferred)
  • Video endpoints (Cisco, Poly, Logitech, etc.)
  • MCU / Video bridges / Cloud video platforms

Network & Real-Time Media

  • Strong understanding of:
  • RTP / SRTP (media streams)
  • SIP / H.323 signaling
  • NAT traversal, STUN, TURN, ICE
  • Deep knowledge of:
  • QoS (DSCP, traffic shaping, prioritization)
  • WAN/LAN optimization for video traffic
  • Multicast (where applicable)
  • Experience troubleshooting:
  • Packet loss, jitter, latency
  • Bandwidth constraints and congestion
  • Familiarity with SD-WAN and cloud networking for video workloads

Video Endpoints & Meeting Rooms

  • Deployment and support of:
  • Conference room systems (Teams Rooms, Webex Rooms)
  • Cameras, codecs, microphones, DSPs
  • Integration with:
  • Calendaring systems (O365 / Exchange)
  • Room scheduling panels
  • AV fundamentals (basic):
  • Audio/video signal flow
  • HDMI/USB integration

Cloud Video & Collaboration

  • Microsoft Teams (meetings, video optimization)
  • Cisco Webex Suite
  • Zoom platform (preferred)
  • Hybrid video interoperability (CVI)

Security & Identity

  • Video encryption (TLS, SRTP)
  • Secure media traversal (firewalls, SBCs)
  • Integration with identity platforms (Azure AD / O365)

Monitoring & Troubleshooting Tools

  • Experience with:
  • RTMT / Webex Control Hub / Teams Admin Center
  • Network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, etc.)
  • Analyze:
  • Call quality metrics (MOS, jitter, packet loss)
  • Endpoint diagnostics and logs

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • ITIL / ITSM familiarity preferred

Experience

  • 3–5 years supporting:
  • Enterprise video conferencing environments
  • Real-time media over IP networks
  • Experience in MSP or enterprise environments
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in video + network domains
  • Hands-on with Cisco, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom ecosystems

Preferred Certifications

  • CCNP Collaboration (or equivalent)
  • CCNA / CCNP Enterprise (networking focus)
  • Microsoft Teams / Collaboration certifications
