The Senior Virtualization Engineer will design, implement, and optimize enterprise-scale virtualization environments with a strong focus on Nutanix Enterprise Cloud technologies. This role emphasizes deep expertise in virtualization platforms, multi-cloud integration, and secure workload isolation strategies to deliver scalable, resilient, and high-performance solutions for enterprise and service provider customers. Candidates with Nutanix experience will be strongly preferred.
General Accountabilities
- Design, develop, and document enterprise virtualization architectures leveraging Nutanix AHV, Prism, and Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2).
- Design secure workload isolation, resource allocation, and compliance-aligned virtualization strategies.
- Implement and configure Nutanix clusters and other virtualization platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V.
- Support hybrid and multi-cloud environments integrating AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Manage compute, storage, and networking resources for diverse enterprise workloads.
- Monitor, tune, and optimize virtualization performance across multi-tenant and enterprise deployments.
- Automate provisioning and lifecycle management using Nutanix Calm, Ansible, or similar tools.
- Apply security best practices including data protection, encryption, and access control within virtualized infrastructures.
- Conduct audits and vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with SOC, ISO, GDPR, and CMMC frameworks.
- Provide Tier-3 support for escalated virtualization issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with architects, project managers, and client teams to deliver design sessions and technical workshops.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing and documentation.
Technical Skills
- 5+ years of experience in enterprise virtualization environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Nutanix AHV, Prism, and Nutanix Files.
- Experience implementing and supporting VMware and Hyper-V platforms.
- Solid understanding of virtualization principles, workload isolation, and multi-tenancy.
- Experience supporting containerized workloads (Kubernetes) within virtualized environments.
- Experience with hybrid and multi-cloud integrations using AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Hands-on experience with automation and orchestration tools such as Nutanix Calm and Ansible.
- Scripting experience using Python and/or PowerShell preferred.
- Experience optimizing performance, troubleshooting production issues, and providing timely resolution.
Experience &Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP-MCI) preferred.
- Nutanix Certified Services – Core (NCS-Core) preferred.
- VMware or Microsoft virtualization certifications are a plus.
- Fluent English language skills required: verbal and written communication.
- Excellent documentation and client-facing communication skills.
- Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to lead architecture design sessions and technical workshops.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make decisions and resolve complex infrastructure incidents.
